- Stu White Added January 03, 2018★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Received a cookbook as a birthday gift which I already had. Took back with receipt 4 days after purchase to exchange but was told they don't exchange books. Confused by this and asked why not and was told it was policy and it says it on the receipt. Hadn't noticed this and certainly wouldn't expect it. Sensible and courteous business policy would be to explain this at the time of sale (or to offer to exchange if purchased for a gift). Disappointing as The Essential Ingredient has otherwise been a great store to shop it in the past.
